Bear Lake

I went to our ward's campout at the Hanson's Cabin at Bear Lake. I got some good pictures and video of the ward for a slideshow. Many were with these karate people. I also got a guy doing num chucks. I saw lots of old buildings driving the loop through Paris and Immigration Canyon. I found cool crystals in a road cut in the canyon. It was spring everywhere up there.

My camera does great low light shots. This was very dark.
You can see some of the people who came. The evening devotional started at 11:30pm.
It would make sense, after watching this one, when I tell you that this guy hit my winshield with a golf ball. The windshield did not break. I moved my car. No harm no foul. I hit one 300 yards, to everyone's suprise, including mine.
There were piles of sea shells like sand dunes. They actually hurt to walk on barefoot.
We had to to get to the boat in shallow water.
The lake had an awesome silk texture in the evening.

Mr Tricorder

My makeup wears in the middle first. Often I end up with rings of makeup on the edges. I feel bad throwing it out, so I throw them in my makeup drawer. The other day I cleaned out the drawer and discovered many, many near-empty compact cases. I decided to scrape the remaining makup from all of them and dump it into one case. I compacted it and created a new, recycled compact that works well (In this tough economy, you just do what you can).

Now I have these empty cases. I am starting a contest to see what I should do with them. Katrina has already suggested that I make tricorders out of them, distribute them to my team and work, and then pretend to use them. I can tell them that I am picking up no signs of intelligent life.

What would you do with them?

Taking Control

I often have frustration dreams about trying to find a bathroom. When I find a bathroom, there is always something wrong. Usually there are no stall doors, or very low ones. The toilets are almost always of unusual shape, size or height.

Last night I drempt that we were trying to use the restroom at this hotel/gas station/restaurant place in the middle of nowhere. The restroom was in the way back. It had all kinds of issues. I finally did it. I grabbed the owner and his wife and I talked to them. I said:

"You have to fix this. There are four major issues with your restrooms." I picked a number, but hadn't thought through what the four things would be. As I began listing them, I realized that there were, in fact four code issues: "First, your restrooms are not ADA accessible. Second, you have to walk through your food storage room to get to them, which is not sanitary. Third, the toilet is on this table, and too high for anyone to sit on; and forth, there are low windows that anyone can look in."

It was awesome. As a result of the discussion, they were actually going to fix their restrooms!

Now, if I could only do something about the dreams where I am trying to pack, and can't find anything; or where I am missing clothing and walking around in public.
